| dc.description | This article examines the model of the skilled adult reading system proposed by Max Coltheart, helpful to characterize different types of developmental reading difficulties, in terms of the particular reading sub skills in which a child is having troubles when learning to read. Among the skills children must develop to become fluent skilled readers are letter recognition, whole word recognition, knowledge of letter-sound rules, and ability to access meaning from the printed word. Coltheart considers them the "basic building blocks of reading". The model can also be used to develop a systematic method for assessing how well a child is acquiring each of the reading sub skills, and in the selection or design of treatment methods. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo examina el modelo del sistema adulto lector hábil propuesto por Max Coltheart, útil para caracterizar los diferentes tipos de dificultades del desarrollo de la lectura, en cuanto a las sub-habilidades puntuales en que el niño tiene problemas al aprender a leer. Entre las habilidades que los niños tienen que lograr para llegar a ser lectores competentes están el reconocimiento de letras y de palabras totales, el conocimiento de las reglas de relación letra-sonido, y el acceso al significado desde la palabra impresa. Coltheart las considera los "bloques fundantes de la lectura". El modelo puede ser utilizado también para desarrollar procedimientos sistemáticos para evaluar cuán bien un niño está adquiriendo cada una de las subhabilidades, y para la selección o el diseño de procedimientos de intervención. | es-ES |
