The purpose of this article is to provide an intertextual reading of James Joyce, T. S. Eliot and Jorge Luis Borges, focused mainly on the interpretation of the representations of time around images of sunset and evening in “Eveline”, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and selected poems from Fervor de Buenos Aires. Such representations of temporality are analysed on the basis of the modern conception of time, the relationship between present and past, and the nostalgic mood that emerges from that conception. As a result of the writing of the evening and its relationship with space, I suggest that Borges alternates the characterization of the phenomenon according to the agency and passiveness that Joyce and Eliot bestow to it respectively.Este trabajo tiene como propósito dar cuenta de una lectura intertextual entre James Joyce, T. S. Eliot y Jorge Luis Borges, dirigida primordialmente a la interpretación de las representaciones del tiempo en torno a las imágenes sobre el atardecer y la tarde en “Eveline”, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, y una selección de poemas de Fervor de Buenos Aires. Dichas representaciones de la temporalidad son analizadas a la luz de la concepción modernista del tiempo, la relación entre presente y pasado, la actitud nostálgica que se manifiesta a partir de dicha concepción. Como resultado del tratamiento escritural que recibe el atardecer en su relación con el espacio, se propone que Borges alterna la caracterización del fenómeno en torno a la actividad y pasividad que Joyce y Eliot le otorgan a este respectivamente.
