This paper is part of a research about the conservation of the heritage language of the Pehuenche of Alto Biobio communities, the chedungun. The work with representatives of the indigenous communities was reviewed and the official information on the subject analyzed. The ultimate purpose was the creation of a cultural curriculum, as opposed to the current guidelines that the Chilean school national curriculum sets, because the latter is not relevant for the pehuenche context. Still, the current one gives an account of the rights that in this field the State declares. In turn, the paper is part of the “Curriculum Cultural Mapuche Pehuenche tradition Oral” project, funded by the National Council for Culture and the Arts. Through the contest: background of the book. El propósito final fue la creación de un currículum cultural en contraposición a los actuales lineamientos que el currículum nacional escolar chileno establece, porque este último, no resulta pertinente para el contexto pehuenche. Aún así, el presente solo da cuenta de los derechos que en este ámbito declara el Estado.
