| dc.description | Articulating elements of feminism and race, we briefly analyse novels by two contemporary black women writers Um Defeito de Cor, 2006, by the Afro-Brazilian authoress Ana Maria Gongalves; and The Hottentot Venus, 2004, by the Afro-American Barbara Chase-Riboud. These writers create narrative voices of black women as central characters, constructing thus an innovative perspective compared with traditional literature, in which the black woman is constructed as ‘the other’, from a perspective that is practically always of a sexist orientation and racist in nature. | en-US |
| dc.description | Articulando cuestiones de feminismo y raza, analizamos brevemente novelas de dos escritoras negras contemporáneas: Um Defeito de Cor (Un defecto de color), 2006, de la autora afrobrasileña Ana Maria Gongalves; y The Hottentot Venus, 2004, de la afroamericana Barbara Chase-Riboud. Esas escritoras crean voces narrativas de mujeres negras como personajes centrales, construyendo, así, una perspectiva innovadora en relación con la literatura tradicional, en la cual la mujer negra es construida como ‘el otro’, a partir de una perspectiva casi siempre de orientación sexista y de índole racista. | es-ES |
