| dc.description | In recent years, accessibility has become one of the most prominent subjects regarding to audiovisual translation, understood as the translation of audiovisual products that use aural and visual signals to convey a message. This is observed both in the academic and professional fields. Notwithstanding, the two most widespread modalities intended to provide accessibility to deaf, hard-of-hearing and blind people to audiovisual products, namely audio description and subtitling for the deaf or hard-of-hearing, have been developed unequally in the world. The aim of this paper is to describe the state of the art of both modalities in Chile. First, both modalities will be defined; subsequently a brief review of the European situation in Spain will be made; and finally, the deficient situation of our country will be exposed, reviewing the implications of the Chilean National Disability Law. | en-US |
| dc.description | La accesibilidad es uno de los temas que más auge ha tenido en los últimos años en materia de traducción audiovisual, entendida esta como la traducción de productos audiovisuales que se sirven de señales auditivas y visuales para transmitir un mensaje. Esto se puede observar tanto en el ámbito académico como en el profesional. Sin embargo, las modalidades de traducción audiovisual más usadas con el propósito de que personas que no pueden oír ni ver tengan acceso a productos audiovisuales, a saber, la audiodescripción y la subtitulación para personas con discapacidad auditiva se han desarrollado de manera desigual en el mundo. El objetivo de la presente comunicación es describir el estado actual de ambas modalidades en Chile. Para esto, primero se proporcionará una caracterización de ambas modalidades, luego se hará un breve repaso de la situación europea en España y, para terminar, se expondrá la deficiente situación en Chile, revisando además las implicancias de ley de discapacidad chilena. | es-ES |
