The Conceptual Metaphor in the EFL Classroom: a Preliminary Study

| dc.description | The metaphor is not only a tool of literature to beautify language but also determines, in one way or another, how we express and behave ourselves. In this sense, the metaphor acquires other connotations. In the classroom of English as a foreign language -EFL-, this is represented in the way of acting and expressing of the English teachers with the students. This leads to questioning if the conceptual metaphor defines the teaching process-learning as a conceptual system. To tackle the question, a fieldwork was carried out on the most frequently used linguistic expressions, which are presented in this article, as well as the results obtained using different instruments. | en-US |
| dc.description | La metáfora no solo es una herramienta de la literatura para embellecer el lenguaje, sino también determina, de una manera u otra, la forma de expresarse y comportarse. En este sentido, la metáfora adquiere otras connotaciones. En las clases de inglés como lengua extranjera -ILE-, esta se representa en la forma de actuar y expresarse de los profesores de inglés en el aula frente a los alumnos, motivo que lleva a cuestionarse si la metáfora conceptual define el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje como sistema conceptual. Para ello, se realizó un trabajo de campo sobre las expresiones lingüísticas más utilizadas, que se dan a conocer en este artículo, como también los resultados obtenidos a través de diferentes instrumentos. | es-ES |
