La delimitación es un requisito esencial para que nuestro comercio con los estímulos externos produzca una experiencia cognitiva. El procesamiento de un complejo de estímulos dinámicos exige su segmentación en individuos temporales (Situaciones), segmentación operacionalizada en las lenguas mediante la constitución de límites. Las propiedades que definen a los distintos tipos de límites lingüísticos no se corresponden todas con realidades extralingüísticas, también resultan de imposiciones de ‘diseño’ proporcionadas por factores cognitivos y comunicativos, respectivamente, presuposiciones e implicaturas. El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar distintos tipos de límites que segmentan las Situaciones en español para definirlos luego en términos de una integración de propiedades semánticas, cognitivas y pragmáticas. La metodología consiste en, primero, agotar la descripción en términos de condiciones de verdad del contenido que constituye un límite en una expresión para luego mostrar la insuficiencia de esa descripción y así finalmente recurrir a categorías pragmáticas para captarlo.Delimitation is an essential requirement for our trade with external stimuli to produce a cognitive experience.
