The aim of this paper is to define the features of the periphrasis be ‘estar’ + participle, versus the same verb be ‘estar’ + participle, in not periphrastic but attributive structures, in current Spanish language. From a literary corpus of different genres, the analysis of the constructions includes both syntactic and semantic factors to discriminate the properties of the periphrasis from those of the attributive structure; and it also compares the structures be ‘estar’ + participle and be ‘ser’ + participle, a highly grammaticalized periphrasis, in order to prove that they have similar syntactic behavior, and therefore they are members of the same paradigm.El objetivo de este artículo es definir las características propias de la perífrasis estar + participio en el español actual. A partir de un corpus literario de diversos géneros, la descripción de las construcciones incluye factores sintácticos y semánticos que permiten individualizar las propiedades de la perífrasis de participio frente a las propias de la estructura atributiva con participio. El análisis, asimismo, contrasta la estructura estar + participio con la de ser + participio, construcción perifrástica más estudiada y altamente gramaticalizada, con la intención de mostrar que tienen comportamiento afín y que, por lo tanto, forman parte de un mismo paradigma.
