| dc.description | Recent years have seen a resurgence of language contact studies in Latin America. This tendency has been favored by changes in the field of linguistics, the social sciences and the humanities which have resulted in an increasing interest in linguistic diversity and in the development of more dynamic and situated approaches to language phenomena. These language contact studies have also been spurred by ideological transformations and social policies that have given visibility to both indigenous languages and peoples in the region. The papers in this issue of Lenguas Modernas explore, from new perspectives, the contact between Spanish and American languages. | en-US |

Este auge se ha visto favorecido por cambios en el campo de la lingüística, las ciencias sociales y las humanidades que han tenido por efecto una creciente preocupación por la diversidad lingüística y el desarrollo de modos de aproximación más dinámicos y situados a los hechos del lenguaje. También ha encontrado un clima favorable gracias a las transformaciones ideológicas, sociales y políticas que han visibilizado tanto las lenguas como los pueblos indígenas en la región.
