| dc.description | This article explores the origins, characteristics, contradictions and different stages of historical application of neoliberalism, understood as a discursive strategy and practice shaped by the various currents of political and economic thought that have come together in its conformation. Taking as a starting point the program of ideas and action designed at the Mont Pèlerin society by thinkers from the Austrian School, the Chicago School and German Ordo-liberalism, the author reviews four phases of neoliberalism’s historical application in different formats and different parts of the world, as well as the vicissitudes that such application has brought in terms of political and economic praxis. In this regard, the author holds three key arguments: that neoliberalism is not a homogeneous school of thought; that its application has had several distinct phases; and finally that such application has shown various internal contradictions at the heart of its thought and praxis. Based on these three points, the article also attempts to show how some of the main causes of the crisis faced by neoliberalism in different times and countries can be found in the difficulties to maintain the complex and fragile balance that characterized the original neoliberal project. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo explora los orígenes, características, contradicciones y distintas fases de aplicación histórica del neoliberalismo, entendido como una estrategia discursiva y práctica conformada por las distintas corrientes de pensamiento político y económico que han confluido en su conformación. Tomando como punto de partida el programa de ideas y de acción diseñado en la sociedad Mont Pèlerin por los pensadores provenientes de la Escuela austriaca, la Escuela de Chicago y el ordoliberalismo alemán, este trabajo pasa revista a cuatro fases de su aplicación histórica en diferentes formatos y en distintas partes del mundo, así como a las vicisitudes que dicha aplicación ha traído aparejada en el plano de la praxis político-económica. En tal sentido, se sostienen tres tesis principales: que el neoliberalismo no es una escuela de pensamiento homogénea; que su aplicación ha tenido diversas fases bien diferenciadas; y, finalmente, que en dicha aplicación han quedado de manifiesto distintas contradicciones internas en el núcleo mismo del pensamiento y la praxis neoliberal. A partir de estos tres puntos, el artículo intenta también demostrar cómo, en las dificultades para mantener el complejo y frágil equilibrio que caracterizó al proyecto neoliberal original, es posible hallar algunas de las causas principales de las crisis que enfrentó el neoliberalismo en diferentes tiempos y países. | es-ES |
