El texto analiza los principales fundamentos, principios y características del nuevo currículum para 3° y 4° medio que entrará en vigencia el año 2020. Se explica que la necesidad del cambio curricular responde a las definiciones de la legislación chilena, así como a las nuevas demandas y desafíos del siglo XXI. El nuevo currículum representa una oportunidad para profundizar en el desarrollo de conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes necesarias para afrontar estos desafíos.The article analyzes the main foundations, principles and characteristics of the new curriculum for 3rd and 4th grades of high school that will take effect in 2020. It is explained that the need for curricular change responds to the definitions stated in chilean legislation, as well as to the new demands and challenges of the 21st century. The new curriculum represents an opportunity to enhance the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary to face these challenges
