| dc.description | The period from the eleventh to the fourteenth century is one of the periods of most effervescent philosophical production. However, it is difficult to find works exclusively devoted to reflection on Language and Communication. Thus, part of this research will be an extraction of medieval texts –(mainly, but not only) scholastic texts– in search of those occasions when a discourse on language or communication emerges. A first field in which these themes emerged for an author for an university author at that time were discussions of logic that contributed to an increasingly subtle reflection on the signs used in Language and Communication. In the present work it will focus in two fields in which the medieval scholastics were taken to the reflection on Communication: [i] the discussion on the speaking of the angels and [ii] the discussion on the Catholic sacrament of the Eucharist, and especially on the ‘Eucharistic formula’. It will be seen how these two themes serve as an occasion for a discussion of Language and Communication in the work of John Duns Scotus (c. 1265-1308). The purpose of this study will be, above all, to see to what extent it is possible, in fact, to find in the Middle Ages notions of ‘Communication’ or ‘Language’ close to the present. | en-US |
| dc.description | El período que va del siglo XI al XIV es uno de los períodos de más efervescente producción filosófica. Sin embargo, es difícil encontrar trabajos exclusivamente dedicados a la reflexión sobre el lenguaje y la comunicación. Así, formará parte de esa investigación una extracción de textos medievales –(principalmente, pero no sólo) de textos escolásticos– en busca de aquellas ocasiones en que emerge un discurso sobre el lenguaje o la comunicación. Un primer campo en el que estos temas surgían para un autor universitario de aquel tiempo eran las discusiones sobre lógica que contribuyeron a una reflexión cada vez más sutil acerca de los signos utilizados en el lenguaje y la comunicación. En el presente trabajo se centrará en dos campos en los que los escolásticos medievales eran llevados a la reflexión sobre la comunicación: [i] la discusión sobre el hablar De los ángeles y [ii] la discusión sobre el sacramento católico de la eucaristía y, en especial, sobre la ‘fórmula eucarística’. Se verá cómo estos dos temas sirven como ocasión para una discusión sobre el lenguaje y la comunicación en la obra de Juan Duns Scoto (c. 1265-1308). La finalidad de este estudio será, ante todo, ver en qué medida es posible, de hecho, encontrar en la Edad Media nociones de ‘comunicación’ o de ‘lenguaje’ próximas a las actuales. | es-ES |
