The objective of this research was to analyze the school experience of students from a high school in Mexico in their technical professional modality. The sample included 79 first semester students, from the evening shift, from two technical careers: Automotive Maintenance and Safety, Hygiene and Civil Protection. The instrument consisted of a word association questionnaire, based on three trigger words, which the participants defined and then ranked; they were then assigned a weighting to create natural semantic networks and analyze the responses. The school experience was related to a strong integration with their peers, however, there is little identification with the type of school, also, they recognize the importance of knowledge, however, studying itself seems to them a boring activity and of little use.El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la experiencia escolar de los estudiantes de un plantel de Educación Media Superior en su modalidad profesional técnico en México. La muestra comprendió a 79 estudiantes de primer semestre, del turno vespertino, de dos carreras técnicas: Mantenimiento Automotriz y Seguridad, Higiene y Protección Civil. El instrumento consistió en un cuestionario de asociación de palabras, a partir de tres palabras detonadoras, que los participantes definieron y después jerarquizaron; posteriormente se les asignó una ponderación para crear redes semánticas naturales y analizar las respuestas. La experiencia escolar se le relaciono con una fuerte integración con los compañeros, sin embargo, existe poca identificación con el tipo de escuela, asimismo, reconocen la importancia de los conocimientos, no obstante, estudiar propiamente les parece una actividad aburrida y de poca utilidad.
