Pushing authors to make themselves visible in the text ‒ through autoethnography ‒ to account for the decisions that drive their em­pirical research work, explain the performative relationships that link them to their tools, and show the process of cyclical adaptations between them, their tools and the world, guest editors Donato Ricci and Jamie Allen challenged the traditional canons of academic publishing, more focused on displaying results and describing processes than on ques­tioning the means we use to research, test, and validate. These autoethnographic stories ‒ provoc­ative, experimental, and introspective ‒ make us aware of the relationship that we establish with our research tools. Along with this, they urge us to redefine research and publication practices and to question the boundaries between dualistic catego­ries like subject/object, truth/fiction, writer/reader, user/producer, culture/nature and collaboration/ competition, calling for correspondence, inclusion, care, fiction, political soundness, collaboration, post-production, readiness to be affected, pro­to-politics, and the relational dimension of data.Empujando a los autores a hacerse visibles en el texto ―a través del relato autoetnográfico― para dar cuenta de las decisiones que conducen su tra­bajo de investigación empírica, explicar las relacio­nes performativas que los unen a sus herramientas y mostrar el proceso de adaptaciones cíclicas entre ellos, estas y el mundo, los editores invitados Donato Ricci y Jamie Allen desafiaron los cánones tradicionales de la publica­ción académica, más centrada en exhibir resultados y describir los procesos que en cuestionar los medios que usamos para investigar, testear y validar. Estos relatos autoetnográficos ―provocativos, experimen­tales e introspectivos ― nos hacen tomar conciencia de la relación que establecemos con nuestras herra­mientas de investigación. Junto con ello, nos instan a redefinir las prácticas de investigación y publicación y a cuestionar los límites entre categorías dualistas del tipo sujeto/objeto, verdad/ficción, escritor/lector, usuario/productor, cultura/naturaleza y colabora­ción/competición, apelando a la correspondencia, la inclusión, el cuidado, la ficción, la aceptación polí­tica, la colaboración, la post-producción, la disposi­ción a verse afectado, la proto-política, y la dimen­sión relacional de los datos.
