dc.descriptionSe  expone un marco de referencia para el estudio y análisis de la conducta parental que pueda servir de base para el diseño de investigaciones o intervenciones con familias. Se revisan las principales conceptualizaciones de la conducta parental, se analizan las dimensiones del comportamiento parental que favorecen el desarrollo infantil y se discute la aplicación del modelo ecológico (Belsky, 1984) en el análisis del maltrato infantil, entendido este como un ejemplo de conducta parental disfuncional. Se examinan las implicancias que el conocimiento del componamiento parental competente tiene para la investigación y la intervención en problemas de maltrato infantil.es-ES
dc.descriptionThe article reviews existent conceptualizations about parenting behavior, as socialization style, affective organization and ecological process. Parenting dimensions that foster healthy development in children are discussed. The determinants of parenting as conceived by the ecological approach and its applications to the understanding and prevention of child maltreatment are examined. Finally, implications of available knowledge on competent and dysfunctional parenting for research and intervention in problems of child maltreatment are discussed. en-US
