| dc.description | This editorial participates in the discussion proposed by the guest editors of this issue by emphasizing that researchers who produce, manipulate, and interpret datasets will be contributing to the entrenchment of an oppressive regime of power-knowledge, if they do not begin their work by reflecting on the dynamics of domination and exploitation inherent in data, just as they will only reinforce inequalities and injustices if they do not question, by extension, the illusions of epistemic purity of datafication. Based on a brief literature review, the editorial highlights three useful strategies for transforming data into an anti-oppressive knowledge-power system: connecting data to the context in which it is produced, as stated by D’Ignazio and Klein; making data mining a people-centered process, as proposed by Leurs and Shepherd; and using data to produce embodied stories, as suggested by Leurs. | en-US |
| dc.description | Esta editorial hace un aporte a la discusión propuesta por los editores invitados de este número enfatizando que los investigadores que producen, manipulan e interpretan conjuntos de datos estarán contribuyendo a afianzar un régimen opresivo de poder-conocimiento si no inician su trabajo reflexionando sobre las dinámicas de dominación y explotación inherentes a los datos, del mismo modo que no harán sino reforzar las desigualdades y las injusticias si no cuestionan, por extensión, las ilusiones de pureza epistémica de la datificación. A partir de una breve revisión de literatura, la editorial destaca tres estrategias útiles para transformar los datos en un sistema de conocimiento-poder anti opresivo: conectar los datos con el contexto en que se producen, como plantean D’Ignazio y Klein; hacer de la extracción de datos un proceso centrado en las personas, tal como proponen Leurs y Shepherd; y usar los datos para producir historias encarnadas, como sugiere Leurs. | es-ES |
