The Fishermen’s Festival in the city of Mar del Plata (Argentina) weas originated towards the end of the 1920s, when Father Dutto, together with a group of fishermen, organized this festival without distinction of nationality. It was characterized by exhibiting a homogenizing tint that sought fellowship among immigrants as well as smoothing out some type of regional differences. In the present analysis, this festival is considered as a space in which the traditions and customs carried by the immigrants were reinvented and in which a mixture of both new and recreated traditions was generated.La fiesta de los pescadores en la ciudad de Mar del Plata (Argentina) se originó hacia fines de la década de 1920 cuando el Padre Dutto junto a un grupo de pescadores organizaron esta festividad sin distinción de nacionalidades. La misma se caracterizó por exhibir un tinte homogeneizador que buscó la confraternidad entre los inmigrantes como también, limar algún tipo de diferencias regionales. En el presente análisis se plantea a esta fiesta como un espacio en el que las tradiciones y costumbres portadas por los inmigrantes fueron reinventadas y en el que se generó una mezcla de tradiciones tanto nuevas como recreadas.
