Since the return of democracy in Chile in the 1990s, the national curriculum has faced major changes and structural adjustments, which have responded to different interests of governments, as well as the political, educational and social scenario in the country. In that sense, it is very important to study and understand the trajectory of this curricular reforms when it comes to understanding the recent situation on the new curricular bases for III and IV grades in secondary school education, being the above, the culmination of a process of years of adjustments, changes and curricular overlays.Desde el retorno de la democracia en Chile, en los años 90, el currículum nacional se ha enfrentado a grandes cambios y ajustes estructurales que han respondido a diferentes intereses de los gobiernos, como asimismo del escenario político, educativo y social en el país. En el presente artículo se examina la trayectoria de estas reformas curriculares, dada su importancia a la hora de entender la situación reciente en cuanto a las nuevas bases curriculares para tercer y cuarto medio de enseñanza media, siendo lo anterior la expresión culmine de un proceso de años de ajustes, cambios y superposiciones curriculares.
