Posterior al terremoto del 2010, se produjo una escasez de recursos naturales explotados por los pescadores artesanales de la región del Bio Bío, Chile. Ante esto, las algueras de Coliumo decidieron buscar formas en las que innovar su oficio. El objetivo de la investigación realizada fue sistematizar la experiencia de empoderamiento productivo del grupo Alga & Mar del Sindicato Nº1 de Pescadoras y Algueras de Coliumo, en la bahía de Coliumo, Chile. Esto se realizó a través de entrevistas, en las cuales se recolectó información sobre los antecedentes de la experiencia que llevó al empoderamiento productivo. Como principales conclusiones, se destaca la búsqueda de oportunidades por parte de las algueras, a través de su organización sindical. Reconocer los factores que llevaron al éxito del emprendimiento de las algueras, permite que se lleven a cabo experiencias similares en otras localidades dedicadas a la pesca artesanal.After the 2010 earthquake, there was a shortage of natural resources exploited by artisanal fishermen from the Biobío Region, Chile. Given this, the Coliumo seaweed decided to look for ways in which to innovate their craft. The objective of the research carried out was to systematize the productive empowerment experience of the Alga & Mar group of the No. 1 Union of Fish and Algueras de Coliumo, in the bay of Coliumo, Chile. This was done through interviews, in which information was collected on the background of the experience that led to productive empowerment. In conclusion, the search for opportunities by the sweeds, through their union organization, stands out. Recognizing the factors that led to the success of the algueras undertaking allows similar experiences to be carried out in other localities dedicated to artisanal fishing.
