| dc.description | Predominant gender stereotypes in Mexican culture assign women roles that are considered unimportant and invisible, such as caring for children, people with disabilities and the elderly, Mexican women spend more than twice as much time caring as men. This has a negative impact on their ability to participate actively in different areas of life, but above all it affects them most of the time in not being able to obtain a well-paid job, with social benefits, that allow them to be independent and autonomous. , as well as access to a pension in their old age and to form a patrimony that allows them to face the last stage of the life cycle in the best conditions. Given the demographic aging process in which Mexico is immersed, this problem is getting worse, the Mexican population is aging, the structure of families is changing, life expectancy is increasing, and this affects women more, since that they are the ones who live longer and not always in the best health conditions, in addition to being the ones who provide most of the care, in the country there is no public policy at the national or subnational level for long-term care term for older adults. The objective of this work is to investigate the situation of women facing the problem of long-term care of the elderly, and to know what public policies the Mexican government is implementing to solve this problem, which is one of the largest challenges that most of the countries of the world will have to face in the 21st century. | en-US |
| dc.description | Los estereotipos de género predominantes en la cultura mexicana asignan a las mujeres roles considerados no importantes e invisibilizados, como el cuidado de los niños, de personas con discapacidad y adultos mayores. Las mujeres mexicanas dedican más del doble del tiempo a labores de cuidados que los hombres, lo que tiene un impacto negativo en su capacidad de participar activamente en los diferentes ámbitos de la vida, pero sobre todo las afecta la mayor parte del tiempo en no poder obtener un empleo bien remunerado, con prestaciones sociales, que les permitan ser independientes y autónomas, así como acceder a una pensión en su vejez y a formar un patrimonio que les permita afrontar la última etapa del ciclo de vida en las mejores condiciones. Ante el proceso de envejecimiento demográfico en el cual se encuentra inmerso México, esta problemática se agrava, la población mexicana está envejeciendo, la estructura de las familias se está modificando, la esperanza de vida está aumentando, esto afecta más a las mujeres, ya que son ellas las que viven más y no siempre en las mejores condiciones de salud, además de ser ellas las que proporcionan la mayor parte de los cuidados, en el país no existe ninguna política pública, tanto a nivel nacional como subnacional, de cuidado a largo plazo para adultos mayores. El objetivo de este trabajo es investigar cuál es la situación de las mujeres ante el problema del cuidado a largo plazo de los adultos mayores, y conocer qué políticas públicas está implementando el gobierno mexicano para solucionar esta problemática, que es uno de los más grandes retos que la mayoría de los países del mundo deberán enfrentar en el siglo XXI. | es-ES |
