We reflec about the implicit knowledge required to solve linear equations. We gather evidence that this knowledge is based into sensible evidences and conventional pragmatic prescriptions,  which really constitute a complex knowledge that is not easy to learn. The paper shows that both the descriptive and prescriptive dimensions of mathematical knowledge are present in mathematic instruction and particularly in mathematic teachers training. Finally we suggest see the convenience of strengthening the professionalization by means of the participation into an educational community that reflects into the instructional practice, improves the didactic knowledge and stays alert to knowledge transposition, knowledge historical evolution and its social requirement.Reflexionamos en torno a los saberes implícitos en la resolución de una ecuación lineal. Se pone en evidencia que estos saberes se sostienen en evidencias sensibles y prescripciones pragmáticas de carácter convencional, que en definitiva constituyen un saber complejo que no es fácil de aprender. El escrito muestra que tanto la dimensión descriptiva como prescriptiva del saber matemático están presentes en la enseñanza de la matemática y particularmente en la formación de profesores de matemáticas. Por último se deja ver la conveniencia de robustecer la profesionalización por medio de la conformación de una comunidad docente que reflexione sobre la práctica, acreciente el saber didáctico y se mantenga vigilante ante la transposición del saber, su evolución histórica y su requerimiento social.
