dc.descriptionThis study aims to understand the phenomenon of the glass ceiling (GC) from the perceptions and experiences of female university professor-researchers, regarding women's access to university leadership positions. Considering a qualitative research approach and the single case study method, this issue is analyzed at a university in Mexico, through semi-structured interviews with 20 women with experience in university management or leadership positions. The interviewees recognize some barriers that contribute to the glass ceiling at the studied university, but they value positively the historical impact of the only woman who has held the position of Dean at said institution, as she represents a relevant factor in advancing gender equality in the organization. The study identifies some proposals for institutional structures, policies and actions that could contribute to the most effective elimination of the barriers or obstacles that shape the glass ceiling in universities.en-US
dc.descriptionEl artículo tiene por objetivo comprender el fenómeno del techo de cristal (TC) desde las percepciones y experiencias de las profesoras-investigadoras universitarias, respecto del acceso de las mujeres a los cargos directivos de la universidad. Considerando un enfoque de investigación cualitativo y el método de estudio de caso único, se analiza dicha problemática en una universidad en México a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas a 20 mujeres con experiencia en puestos directivos universitarios. Las entrevistadas reconocen algunas barreras que configuran el techo de cristal en la universidad estudiada, pero valoran positivamente el histórico impacto de la única mujer que ha ocupado el cargo de rectora en la institución, como una líder que se convierte en un factor relevante para avanzar en la igualdad de género en la organización. Se identifican algunas propuestas de estructuras, políticas y acciones institucionales que pueden contribuir a la eliminación más efectiva de las barreras u obstáculos que configuran el techo de cristal en las instituciones universitarias.es-ES
