dc.description	This special issue explores how do we account for the sensitive, intimate ways in which our toolsets ‒ and our choices of these ‒ become the infrastructures that co-produce and co-constitute knowledge and meanings. Testing Against the World aimed at addressing, exploring, and making more explicit the following questions: What drives the choice of toolsets in empirical investigations? Why does contemporary research demand to be ‘grounded’ empirically? What professional, personal, and emotional attachments afford the selection of particular means of observation and translation? What do we expect from our tools? What do they expect of us? How are tools and technologies instrumentalized? How have tools and research adapted or been forced to adapt to new empirical demands, and knowledge economies? What have such settings required us to assume, acquire, or impose? How do choices of instruments and tools pre-format worlds under investigation and authorize the creation of new worlds?	en-US
dc.description	Este número especial explora de qué manera explicamos las formas sensibles e íntimas en que nuestros conjuntos de herramientas, así como nuestras elecciones de estas, se convierten en las infraestructuras que coproducen y co-constituyen conocimiento y significado. Testing Against the World aborda, explora y hace más explícitas las siguientes preguntas: ¿Qué impulsa la elección de conjuntos de herramientas en las investigaciones empíricas? ¿Por qué la investigación contemporánea exige ser “fundamentada” empíricamente? ¿Qué apegos profesionales, personales y emocionales permiten seleccionar medios particulares de observación y traducción? ¿Qué esperamos de nuestras herramientas? ¿Qué esperan estas de nosotros? ¿Cómo se instrumentalizan las herramientas y las tecnologías? ¿Cómo se han adaptado ―o han sido forzadas a adaptarse― las herramientas y la investigación en general a las nuevas demandas empíricas y a las economías del conocimiento? ¿Qué es lo que estos escenarios requieren que asumamos o adquiramos, y qué nos imponen? ¿Cómo es que las elecciones de instrumentos y herramientas preformatean los mundos bajo investigación y autorizan la creación de nuevos mundos?	es-ES
