dc.descriptionThe increasing teacher shortage is a global concern impacting educational quality. In Chile, the Ministry of Education (Mineduc) projects a shortfall of over 25,000 teachers by 2025, exacerbated by teacher absenteeism, which refers to temporary or prolonged teacher absences due to medical leave, administrative permits, or unplanned absences. This study examines the role of the floating teacher as an emerging solution to ensure pedagogical continuity in diverse educational contexts. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 participants, including administrators, floating teachers, and community members. Document analysis complemented the data collection, and triangulation was employed to validate the findings. Results highlighted successful practices such as proactive planning and adaptability while identifying challenges like administrative overload and lack of formal recognition. These findings support proposals to legitimize and enhance the floating teacher's role, addressing its limitations and strengthening pedagogical continuity in educational systems.en-US
dc.descriptionLa creciente escasez de docentes es un fenómeno alarmante que afecta la calidad educativa a nivel global. En Chile, el Mineduc proyecta un déficit de más de 25 mil profesores/as para 2025, intensificado por el ausentismo docente entendido como las ausencias temporales o prolongadas de los/as docentes, ya sea por licencias médicas, permisos administrativos o inasistencias no planificadas. En este artículo se presenta un estudio que analiza el rol del/la profesor/a volante como una solución emergente para garantizar la continuidad pedagógica en contextos educativos diversos. Adoptando un enfoque cualitativo, se emplearon entrevistas semiestructuradas y análisis documental, y se integraron datos mediante la triangulación para asegurar la validez de los hallazgos. Los resultados revelaron prácticas exitosas, como la planificación anticipada y la adaptabilidad, y desafíos, como la sobrecarga administrativa y la falta de reconocimiento formal del rol. Estos hallazgos sustentan propuestas para legitimar esta figura y enfrentar sus limitaciones, contribuyendo al fortalecimiento del sistema educativo.es-ES
