The article analyses the main findings of the study “Assignments of primary education teachers graduated from higher education in Chile: an analysis of market segmentation”, between September 2008 and May 2009. This study finds and analyzes assignments of 246 recently graduated teachers –2006 and 2007– of 17 higher education institutions in Chile and their relationship with their institutions as their social and educational origin identifying consistent associations between job assignments and education institutions. It also approaches the functional incorporation of the higher education system and the labor market to the “reproductionist” circle which segregates the school-system students as well as teacher training system students by their socio cultural and educational origin. Then they are trained separately for returning to the same educational subsystem from which they come.El artículo discute los principales resultados y conclusiones del estudio Destino laboral de los egresados de pedagogía en educación básica de instituciones de educación superior chilenas: un análisis de la segmentación del mercado. desarrollado entre septiembre de 2008 y mayo de 2009. La indagación constata y analiza el destino laboral de 246 egresados recientes - Años 2006 y 2007- de pedagogía en educación básica de 17 instituciones de educación superior chilenas y su eventual relación con las instituciones de las cuales han egresado, a partir del origen socioeducativo de los egresados, identificando asociaciones consistentes entre entidades formadoras y destinos laborales. Asimismo, se desarrollan los alcances de una incorporación funcional del sistema de educación superior y del mercado laboral al círculo reproduccionista, que segrega tanto a estudiantes del sistema escolar como del sistema de formación inicial de docente según el origen sociocultural y educativo, y los forma separadamente para retornarlos al mismo subsistema educativo del cual provienen.
