dc.descriptionThis text presents an overview of deafness and the education of deaf people anchored on Cultural Studies and Deaf Studies. New ways of seeing, understanding and acting were created through time that has brought different meanings and conceptions. Therefore, this paper's objective is to present deaf education through an analysis of historical aspects and legal texts until the current bilingual education scenario. It is an exploratory and bibliographic study, based on theoretical sources such as books, articles and legal texts relevant to the topic. Results point to countless challenges in education in Brazil, such as the sparse qualification of the teachers, low salaries, high rates of grade retention and evasion, among others. The education of the deaf, as seen, suffers from the same influences, added to the constructed beliefs and the social imagery, focusing on disabilities and impossibilities of deaf people.en-US
dc.descriptionEste texto presenta una visión general de la sordera y la educación de personas sordas ancladas en Estudios Culturales y Estudios de Sordos. Nuevas formas de ver, comprender y actuar se crearon a través del tiempo que ha traído diferentes significados y concepciones. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es presentar la educación para sordos a través del análisis de aspectos históricos y textos legales hasta el escenario actual de educación bilingüe. Es un estudio exploratorio y bibliográfico, basado en fuentes teóricas como libros, artículos y textos legales relevantes al tema. Los resultados apuntan a innumerables desafíos en la educación en Brasil, como la escasa calificación de los docentes, los bajos salarios, las altas tasas de retención y evasión de grados, entre otros. La educación de los sordos, como se ve, sufre de las mismas influencias, sumadas a las creencias construidas y lo imaginario social, centrándose en las discapacidades e imposibilidades de las personas sordas.es-ES
